Re: underdrive pulley

I put the Unorthodox Racing pulley on my car.  It is easy fairly easy to install and the UR has the 2 small holes for a pulley puller so that its easy to take off the car.  There is also a brand called Ralco I sell.  Some ppl have loved em with no issues, others say it can cause a squeak, which I cant figure out why.

UR - $180 shipped
Ralco - $100 shipped

Re: underdrive pulley

The one from WRP is the best because its underdriven and lightweight, the ones from Unorthadox and Ralco are only lightweight, and theres a group buy going on right now, you can get one for $103 shipped, so go here --> http://myspecv.com/f/t28602-wrp-technol … buy-2.html and get one

Re: underdrive pulley

i t replaces the stock crank pulley on the end of your crank shaft that drives the belt for your power steering, air conditioning, altenator and such.  By reducing the weight it takes less of a strain to turn the pulley and the other pulleys connected to it's belt.  by decreasing the size (as this does by 5%) it has even less mass to turn and reduces travel time for one full revolution of the pulley also increasing performance.

I may be wrong but I'vwe always considered this kind of mod a small one but well worth it as it really starts to add up with other mods.

Re: underdrive pulley

I was reading about how the heavy pulley on some cars are heavy for a reason. To act as a damper for the crank to reduce the strain from vibration. Anyone experienced any increase in vibration?

Re: underdrive pulley

UR only has lightweight, they dont have an unverdrive version for our cars.  I think if it were smart to underdrive the QR, UR woulda made it like that, just like they did for the sr20

Re: underdrive pulley

a 5% underdrive is hardly enough to begin to damage the accessories.  and from what i understand the balancer for our cars is actually really decent now.

I have the WRP underdrive pulley and do not have any problems so far. I do get a squeaking every now and then, but not too often. It's a great mod as long as you get in on a group buy.

Re: underdrive pulley

It depends on you if its worth it or not. With the NON-underdriven pullies like the UR and the Ralco you wont see more than a 1whp and 1-2tq difference. I like the WRP crank pulley I got and I havent noticed a single negative affect from it being underdriven. No extra vibration, no squeaking, no noticable affect on the A/C, Power steering, or water pump.

Re: underdrive pulley

Is that a predicted 3-4 hp gain, or has it been dyno proven yet.  If so I would like to see the dyno sheets.  I have the Ralco and it squeals like a bish in heat.  Want to get the UR one, but cant find the part number anywhere.  Any help here Majormods would be greatly appreciated.

Is that a predicted 3-4 hp gain, or has it been dyno proven yet.  If so I would like to see the dyno sheets.  I have the Ralco and it squeals like a bish in heat.  Want to get the UR one, but cant find the part number anywhere.  Any help here Majormods would be greatly appreciated.

so is the pulley even worth installing?
