I put the Unorthodox Racing pulley on my car. It is easy fairly easy to install and the UR has the 2 small holes for a pulley puller so that its easy to take off the car. There is also a brand called Ralco I sell. Some ppl have loved em with no issues, others say it can cause a squeak, which I cant figure out why.
UR - $180 shipped
Ralco - $100 shipped

The one from WRP is the best because its underdriven and lightweight, the ones from Unorthadox and Ralco are only lightweight, and theres a group buy going on right now, you can get one for $103 shipped, so go here --> http://myspecv.com/f/t28602-wrp-technol … buy-2.html and get one

sorry for being a noob..but wat exactly does it do? is it worth it? and where does it go?

i t replaces the stock crank pulley on the end of your crank shaft that drives the belt for your power steering, air conditioning, altenator and such. By reducing the weight it takes less of a strain to turn the pulley and the other pulleys connected to it's belt. by decreasing the size (as this does by 5%) it has even less mass to turn and reduces travel time for one full revolution of the pulley also increasing performance.

I may be wrong but I'vwe always considered this kind of mod a small one but well worth it as it really starts to add up with other mods.

don't buy the ralco... the thing fucking squeeks like mad. had this happen on two cars so far, actually took the damn thing OFF the auto se-r that heidi drives every day and threw it in the corner. i think they made the sides too narrow or the grooves are too deep , so it squeeks

Mike

I think I would get the WRP in the group buy
oh and thanks for the info

I was reading about how the heavy pulley on some cars are heavy for a reason. To act as a damper for the crank to reduce the strain from vibration. Anyone experienced any increase in vibration?

Jeff

thats why i like just lightweight and not underdriving the accessorys
Offline

i want to get the UR.... but the lightweight one... i dont like underdriving the accessories because it can cause damge to the engine and accessories...
Offline

Jeff

UR only has lightweight, they dont have an unverdrive version for our cars. I think if it were smart to underdrive the QR, UR woulda made it like that, just like they did for the sr20
Offline

Jason

a 5% underdrive is hardly enough to begin to damage the accessories. and from what i understand the balancer for our cars is actually really decent now.
Offline

does this mean i wasted 100 bucks?
im doin my install at the end of the week... so please dear god i hope it doesnt squeak...

well last look we have 9 out iof the 20 ppl needed for the group buy. we need you guys. $103 for a nice upgrade is well worth it imo.

I have the WRP underdrive pulley and do not have any problems so far. I do get a squeaking every now and then, but not too often. It's a great mod as long as you get in on a group buy.
Offline

if some could please post with a qr and owning the ralco pulley tell me if its worth the 45 minutes of my time to install or to just re sell it.

It depends on you if its worth it or not. With the NON-underdriven pullies like the UR and the Ralco you wont see more than a 1whp and 1-2tq difference. I like the WRP crank pulley I got and I havent noticed a single negative affect from it being underdriven. No extra vibration, no squeaking, no noticable affect on the A/C, Power steering, or water pump.

I know it's up to you rako, but I'm kinda pushing for you to resell your ralco and be a part of this GB for the WRP pulley

I make 11 total. I just bought one so now we only have 9 more people to go to get this thing rolling!!

Jason

sweet we need more ppl for this. hopefully by the time my front end gets repaired they will be ready for manufacturing and get shipped out. we need more ppl for the pulley it's a great upgrade for the money.

Is that a predicted 3-4 hp gain, or has it been dyno proven yet. If so I would like to see the dyno sheets. I have the Ralco and it squeals like a bish in heat. Want to get the UR one, but cant find the part number anywhere. Any help here Majormods would be greatly appreciated.

i got the part# for the UR - they are $180 shipped.... kinda pricey for a pulley.
