All unichip and electronics people, question for you

So I FINALLY found out what my issue was with my turbo system.

Big J and jushtury were right, it was the unichip. However, it was something really strange that wasnt the tuning.

I took it to a unichip tuner yesterday. They were really helpful and spent several hours looking into things. After digging in, they found that the unichip was not reading the proper signal from the crankshaft sensor.
This is why my car runs fine 0-3000 rpms, but horribly above that. It was referencing totally wrong spots in the maps.

So after we called unichip about 10 times, they suggested to check the codes. It was throwing a code for crank position sensor. This doesnt normally throw in my car before turbo. Unichip said this is a common problem when you have an 04 spec without an immobilization system and that you need to swap two wires on the unichip. Well, I HAVE an immobilzation system on my 04.

So if anyone else had this issue, please let me know. If I can just get the sensor coming in there properly, I will have a functional car.

Yeah it's frustrating, because now I know that I spent weeks tracking down mechanical mistakes that I didn't even make.

Re: All unichip and electronics people, question for you

Thanks Big J.
We didn't get any dyno graphs because it was never able to actually get going.
Most of the day consisted of the tuner trying to get the rpms to read right, then unichip suggesting another method, and that not working..etc.

The final solution they presented was this mod for cars that dont have the immobilizer. They said the crank and cam sensor wires need to be switched when they enter the chip, basically.
Even though I actually do have an immobilizer, i figured it was worth a try. But, the unichip harness has all the connectors embedded in that epoxy stuff, so you can't get to it. The only other option is to bypass the harness and manually wire the 10 unichip wires.

Does any of that stuff make sense to you? I don't know why no other turbonetics cars had this problem. If anyone did, it would help if they let me know.
