I've talked to travis and he has said that if there is enough interest he would be able to make some shifter cable bushings for our cars out of the same material he is using for the motor mounts he is working on. A set of shifter cable bushings would really clean up the feel of our shifters. He said that he would need a minimum of 25 people. He will check out pricing on Monday. So who is interested?

50 sets MAX.. I can't do any more than that right now.. At 4 bushings per set, it's going to be 200 bushings, which is all of the material that my machinist has, and this will keep him busy for a few days solid.
Price will be 39.00 for 4 bushings, with washers.. Figure in 5 bucks for a padded envelope and shipping.
Trav4011 wrote:
Ok, guys, I'm going to start on production of these.. I don't need the money as of now, but, I will let you all know when they are finished, and ready to ship. I will then collect payment, via paypal, and ship them ALL out within 3-4 days (10-15 per day). But, I don't need the money to get this done.. I'll cover the expense on my end.. Just PLEASE don't leave me hanging on this. I am going out on a limb here, financially, to get this done, because I believe that it's the right way to go about it. So, please be prepared to pay up when I announce that they're ready to ship.. If I get burned on this.. I will never do another group buy again.
The bushings will be ready in a week and 1/2.

Here's a little info on this crazy ass material that my machinist turned me onto for these types of high wear/high stress parts..
Nylatron® NSM Nylon
Best bearing and wear nylon product available today. Proprietary type 6 nylon formulation produced using Quadrant's Monocast® process. Solid lubricant additives impart self-lubricating, high pressure/velocity and superior wear resistance characteristics. Nylatron NSM was developed specifically for demanding applications where larger size parts are required. It is ideal for bearings, gears and wear pads.
In wear applications, Nylatron NSM lasts up to 10 times longer than standard Type 6 nylon. This stuff is great... it requires NO lubrication, and has a LONG wear life in high impact/load bearing applications.. which makes it perfect for engine mounts, shifter bushings, suspension bushings, etc..

Sorry.. I meant to say 3 bushings..
It's not the material that costs the most here.. it's the autocad and machine time to draw/make the parts. Not a bad price to pay when you're working with 1/2 million dollar machines.
Travis
I would like everyone that is on the list and definitely wants in on the GB to please pm me. Also there will probably end up being some differences between the years for the bushings so please include that info in the pm as well.

i'm definitely in. the bushings are like little rubber O-rings connecting the shift cable and the shifter. if you replace the stock ones, which have a certain amount of "slop" built into them (just a bit of space between the shifter and the cables), you'll get a MUCH cleaner and nicer feeling shifter, i.e. not so clunky and vague feeling. if you've ever shifted a 6 speed Z, you know what it's like.

i am in depending on price and if it will work with my short shifter, i have the fakiton one w/ centering adaptor. sounds sweet if it will smooth up the shifts.

Updated the list. Yeah I am sure that these would make a huge difference for us. Our stock bushings are horrible. Travis will hopefully update us soon on pricing. Anyone else interested?

Cool. I can if he wants me to but I'll let him decide how he wants to handle that.

25! does that count as a green light for the product?

Well yes and no. Just because we have 25 say that they are interested doesnt mean all 25 will actually end up buying them. I'd feel more comfortable if we could get at least 30.

Offline

Norbert
i bet you could get a bunch more people interested concretely if you had a ballpark price. i know you guys are still barely getting into this product and aren't quite sure of anything yet, but i know for sure that i would be able to make a decision if i knew an approximate figure. if it's under 35-40 bucks i'm in FOR SURE.
Offline

Joe

I really have no idea on the pricing. Still waiting to hear from travis on that one. I personally dont care too much about pricing as I will buy them regardless because I really want these and nobody else makes them.

Offline

Norbert
with the way our bushings currently are, i'm surprised that nobody makes them. i'm agreeing with you man, i'm in regardless. surely they won't be more than MMIs, those are physically larger and have more material.
Offline

Johnny

depends on price too
