There was a Track day on 8/17/08 and it was a pretty good turn out. a total of 11 cars and 1 bike.
It felt kind of wierd being on the track since i'm used to streets but it felt good not worrying about getting cought by the cops for speeding. I love the track now. I did a total of 5 runs, the more runs i did the lower my time was getting. It went from a 15.7 to a 15.0, a few of the runs i missed 2nd gear. Why? dont know, it's the easiest gear to get into.

I have more vids but thats from the other members from here and from nycsentras.com not sure if they want me to put them up so i'll let them notify me first.

come on i'm tring lol. i guess you can say it runs like a stock 07-08 spec. but then again, the numbers will go down as i keep hitting the track, track floor is way different then i thought. It's extra sticky. When my boy on the bike went on the track first he said his feet was actually sticking to the floor. Thats how sticky it was.

i would guess you would see better numbers at englishtown cause of the altitude....but im not a scientist or nething

HaHAHAHAH, the altitude difference within NJ is going to be so negligible you will NOT see any chance from it. You gotta start going up/down thousands of feet for stuff to make a difference
However, E-town is a "faster" track with a way better surface, so you would probably run faster because of that.

What were your 60' times? That's where you need to improve to get a better ET. Did you lower the front tire pressure? I find about 24-26 psi on a street tire works well.

60' was 2.3, mph was 93, front tire pressure was at 30psi and i launched at about 2500rpms. next time ima bring the rpms to 3000 since it was really sticky, i think it will hook.

30 psi is too high for a street tire. Go down to 26 psi or even 24 psi. You'll get off the line much better, believe me.

Don't feel bad about missing 2nd. Sometimes when I wrap out first, it makes it hard to get into 2nd. It literally doesn't let me in, from time to time. Especially if it's colder outside.
Nice runs, but looking at your mod list you should be capable of mid-high 14's. I bet if you went to the track a few more times, you could see those times.

iight next time i'll bring it down some more.
yea thats what happens to me to when i redline 1st gear it's really rough to go into second gear.
We also had a few boosted specs and they had trouble tring to get lower then a 14.5 the fastes boosted spec was i think a 14.2, but it was everyones first time.

Yeah, I'm hoping Travis' shifter bushings will clean the shifting up a bunch.

Haha, what a weird smiley!
But no, really, until you start dropping or going up 1000+ feet, times really don't matter. NJ is pretty much all the "same" elevation... now where I am from in Wyoming, I went from 7200 feet... drove 65 miles and was at 4900 feet and my car got considerably faster. Now that is just silly!
Maybe we should get a group together for Englishtown one weekend this fall! That'd be neat. There's never any other specs there when I go

nah, that'd be a pretty crappy turn out for a meet once people realize it's $30 to run at englishtown...

Offline

thats a good price island drag was 35 plus 5 bucks for helmet rental.
Online

Evan

ah man that's twice the price of atco, atco is 18$ total racing + helm rental.

how much runs can you get in at Englishtown & Atco on a sunday? Just curious...

I've never been to Etown on a Sunday
I've been 3 times on Saturdays... once was during Nissan Day and we got 4, another one was just a normal day and we got 7. Then the last one was closing weekend, so it was really busy, and I got 3.
Saturdays are a whole lot better than Friday/Wednesday nights... way less imports, and a more older, mature crowd (usually a large Corvette club). Which is fine by me honestly. I've heard lots of stories of stuff getting stolen on the weeknight events, so I figure my wheels are a little safer around the Corvette guys
I think etown is really just hit or miss... some weekends just have a busier turnout, or more cars breaking down on the track, etc.

It's always the POS Outlaw bracket cars, too... fucking POS mustangs... UGH. Another reason why I hate Friday nights at etown... POS domestic bracket cars always breaking... and insisting on still finishing the run... spewing oil the whole length of the track, which in turns takes an hour to clean up

HAHA pos mustangs r fucking gay...they closed the track twice for a couple spills but serioulsy it annoys the hell outta everyone bc we paid to race god damnit! not to wait for ur piece of shit to break on the track.

And when they break, they always have to spew out oil and shit... that's what's annoying. They need to cover their POS mustang with huggies or something... contain that shit!

I got 8 runs in back to back (bad for times too no cool down) in less than an hour. When I went on a friday at 5. Tuesday is the same deal it doesn't get crazy flooded until after 8. Then the line to get in is ridiculous.

lol, earlier this year I got 1 run down the track and someone spewed antifreeze from the 1/8 all the way down the rest of the track.....fucking annoying having to wait for that shit to be cleaned up.

They always make announcements over and over that if you break, STOP. don't keep going. but alas, seemingly 90% of the people drag their shit alllllllll the way to the end of the 1/4....

+1 This is my experience too
With street tires I agree 3000 rpm may be too high
Loved the videos I have to do that
As you have already learned, track time will do wonders for you
Keep it up
A question for Don
If he were to use track bite or cats claw traction aids
Would that help him on what already seems like a sticky track?

I see a lot of it being used especially at small under-prepped tracks
I line up my car in the tracks they use and burn through it seems to work [ for one run]
I am ordering a gallon of cat’s claw
We will see
Don I am going to run the brackets at paradise when I get the car back.
I was actually invited.
nightrider you might try to line up your run in the previous burnout path at the start
I assume you are already shallow staged
and overall it really is practice, practice, practice
