well to set up a rating system i think there will be alot of asshats who will give negative feedback to others if they dont like them or agree with there ideals. i have an idea and need some feedback.
when a member helps you out in a time of desperate need or helps the msv community out a page should be set up with an explanation of how they did it and the only person who can read them and approve it would be gurov. this is the icon we should get
.
you would only be allowed to get a maximum of 5 icons. hence a 5 start rating. so to get a icon it should be pretty damn good what you did.
no one would have any say not even the mod only gurov can supply stars.
and it will be based on what happens after gurov were to put this in place not before.
what do u guys think?

I don't know, most of us here know who to talk to about stuff.

We were going to put a thank you system kinda like they have on other forums, where members can thank others for good posts.

it would have nothing to do with who to talk to it would have to do with showing other that a person realy helped someone out and helped the community. to get a wrench icon u would have to do something really sprecial for g to even approve to get a star

heh, gurov doesn't have time to sit around and approve stuff like that... it'd be me doing it... just to let you know

I dunno, a simple thank you suffices for me. I've helped out plenty of people, but I don't want status for that.

didn't we used to have a rating system? Like a + - system, maybe a year ago?

yeah, until a former admin and mod decided it would be cool to "hack" it and give each like 70 positive things. if someone didn't like someone, they would just sit there and constantly give negatives. it was very flawed.

a status sytem is bad to many dumbass would abuse it. im sayng that it would be totally anonymous when you send a reason to g to give someone a wrench icon and if he approves it that means u really deserve it and you can only get 5. has nothing to do with thank yous don. if its something minor that doesnt deserve a wrench u wont get one it would be up to g. so when people see u have a wrench icon they know damn he did something

That logic is undeniably flawed.

it was just an idea don i respect your feedback can u explain why why it would be flawed when the power goes to g to give a icon?

I think most people won't even look at people's profiles, that's why.

Yeah, I was happy to see it go. It took down credibility for no reason most of the time.

too much work on the admin side. and the feedback section now takes care of your idea for the most part. ppl voice their thanks and complaints to the public, guy can defend and also give praises. general public can search for feedback, and admin/mods and keep it in check if needed.
this system will put too much strain on 1 person to constantly go over a review letter and then make a decision. and the admin's decision might not agree with whoever sent in the letter. ppl can also just lie and bring each others icons/stars up

Feedback is for selling/buying.
I think this guy is talking about a general system for other things except buying and selling.

ppl have used the feedback section for other things outside of buying/selling.. and if not, then i think the feedback forum should just include it

They have?

i remember some ppl giving thanks for members coming over to help them on installs and such. maybe once i dunno

It's a good idea Tommy and it's good that you want to give credit where it is due, but as your plan stands right now, it will take a lot of effort and would end up being more work than what it's worth. It'd be strong for the first little bit then it'd ebb off and die away.
A+ for effort though!

i think its a good idea, but something we could do without
after being on the site regularly for about a month, u get a really good idea on who knows stuff and who doesnt
u can also pretty much see someones name and then be like...o yea they drive the silver 04 spec and boost 8lbs (lol i just thought about this and it matches prestons car)
lol...and on a funny note...if u get a wrench icon...someone can say...yea he's a tool

Just make an comment box on our profiles where people can leave comments for others to see when you look at there profile and give the user the ability to delete them in case someone leaves something inappropriate. done.
