Well I went out to my local track last night, Firebird international Raceway, and went drag racing in my spec. The times were not all that good but it was my first time out so I don't feel too bad.
The best time I got was a 16.25 at 87.41 Mph, but my R/T was .981 and that was my 2nd time down the track. LOL as the night went on my R/T got to about .2 ish and my times go slower LOL. I was out there with a couple other guys and they said everyone had some slow ass times.

FYI, reaction time does NOT affect your times at all. You can sit there for 2 seconds and as long as the timing light beam is not broken, your time is not affected.
Was it really hot out? Hot temps kill performance. Being in Phoenix I can only imagine how hot it was! Also remember that you are at 2000? feet in elevation.. that takes some time away.
Nevertheless, the first time out there's always jitters and you probably won't run your best times. Just keep going and you're sure to get better!

It was like 95 degrees out and a lot of people were running slow times. There was a new STi that was running high 14's.
I know what you mean about R/T but was was cool to try and go as on time as possible, the only real fun thing that I could do since my times were retarded slow...

yeah, 95 degrees is bad mojo. that probably affected you a lot

Well that's good to know...I just have my exhaust on too so that probably didn't help to much either. I need to get that CAI on soon then go try it again and see if that helps.

You have plenty of room for improvement. The 95 degrees is a killer though. If you can go later in the year when it is cooler, you would see a big difference from the temps alone.

you can def get to 14.9 if you practice a lot. I dont know much about the heat and elevation but i would ignore it and just concentrate on the launching. My first time i ran like 18 seconds lol but now after practicing last time i ran a 15.0

hey as long as you had fun man, and since everyone was runnin slow you can compare to their slow times lol.

Yeah I went last night it was 102 @ Atco with hella bad humidity and they used the water box
My best run was a 15.1 @ 92 something with a bad launch. If the temps were colder I probably could have managed a 14.7 or so.
with a 14.989 @ 93.14 MPH 1/4 @ Atco Raceway, NJ (Stock)Offline

I want to hit up FIR when I get back there. Waiting till winter though, fuck the summer heat.

i think that's why i'll never really go to atco... it's stupid that you can't drive around the box.

They were in the 2.5 and i have Continental Sport Contact II on there.
PS Why the hell did this get moved? not really about drag racing as it is about my first time on a track??
Mods + here = me confused???

fydk, your 60 foot and tires are everything at the track. have good tires and you will have a good 60 foot making your times go down a good amount. continentals are not the best street tires so its an average of you getting a 2.5 60 cus of that. next time buy drag radials bfgs, toyo, and mts, are good or even better slicks. put them on and go back to the track.

I was at the track the same night with Hitman. My times were pretty crappy as well. I hit a best of 15.1 at 97 mph with JWT cams and a 75 shot.
As he mentioned, there was an '08 Sti with a stage II set up running mid 14's. So in all, I guess we didn't do too bad. That was my first time on the track with juice and to be honest, I've never had good ET's at that track. The next nearest track is about 1.25 hours from home though.
Next run will be in the fall, maybe October or so. We should be seeing some good times then.

This is actually where it belongs. You went racing on the track.
