FI-R QR Camshaft Group Buy?

A few people have expressed an interest in having cams ground for turbo and N/A applications... I have several grinds available.. and considered a group buy.  Maybe 10 sets to start off with?  I will have to check with the machine shop to check on turn-around time for 10 sets.. but, I'd say around 3-4 weeks, tops.. Cost will be in the low 500's at 10 sets.. Retail is 595.00 for our custom QR grinds..

Basically.. I'd like to know who would be interested, and what you're looking for.  I have grinds that will work with stock springs AT THE STOCK REV LIMITER ONLY.. and I also have grinds that can be spun all the way out to 7500rpm with aftermarket springs.

Ok.. here's the low-down..

The cost of material has gone up slightly, because of fuel prices.. but, it's still decent.. The price will be 565.00 per set (plus shipping) at 10 sets.  If we go higher than 10 sets, I will discount the price further, based on how many sets are sold.  If we hit 20 sets, the price will drop to 539.00 per set.

Here's the offerings..

Non-turbo (N/A) grind, with stock springs (good for fully bolted cars with stock rev limiter)
Non-turbo (N/A) grind, with aftermarket springs (good for fully bolted cars with increased rev limiter, head work, and 3" collector/exhaust)

Turbo/blower grind with stock springs (good for all turbo/blown cars)
Turbo/blower grind with aftermarket springs (very aggresive turbo/blower cams, and good for 7500rpm with springs)

The stock-spring grinds are going to be very mild, in comparison to the grinds with springs.. The stock springs can only handle so much..

I will sell the springs to you guys at wholesale, plus shipping.. The cost will be 217.00 for a set of springs.  They are good for 8K rpm, and will work with the stock retainers.

PLEASE READ IN REGARDS TO PAYMENT/SHIPPING

I will accept Paypal, or a certified check/money order for payment.  Shipping on the cams will be a flat rate of 18.00, which includes insurance.  No additional charge will be assessed if you buy the springs.

Here's how I want to do this.. Please post the following in this thread..

Name
Address
Payment method
Type of cams requested

At the SAME time.. I will ask that you paypal me, or send a certified check/money order for the purchase to the info as follows..

Paypal- Trav4011@hotmail.com

Mailing address-

Forced Induction Racing
117 Kettle Lane
Houma, LA 70360

Once I recieve your info/request, I will update the "list" in this post with your info, and mark as "unpaid"..  Then, once I recieve payment, I will update it as "paid".

It will take roughly 4 weeks to have the cams ground and shipped out to me.  I will run this group buy for 2 weeks.  At the end of the 2 week period, I will stop collecting money, and send payment to my wholesaler.

Let me know if you guys have any further questions.. Thanks..

Travis

Re: FI-R QR Camshaft Group Buy?

i'm interested, but with it spun to work at 7500 what risks are we running and what supporting mods would we need to have it run safely besides springs?

Re: FI-R QR Camshaft Group Buy?

Keep in mind.. I have several grinds available.. you don't HAVE to spin it up higher if you don't want to.. Just need to know what your plans are.. Also, we can offer springs with the cams if you plan to rev higher..

I'm interested also. I will be installing a 100 shot direct port nitrous kit soon so i would need a grind that would benefit this. Will we have to provide cores?

Re: FI-R QR Camshaft Group Buy?

No cores.. these are freshly ground on blanks.. no regrinds here!

I do have a nitrous profile, too..

Springs will be around 225.00, and are good for 7500rpm at the stock installed height.

Re: FI-R QR Camshaft Group Buy?

Gains will vary wildly, based on your current modifications.. and I'm sure that different combo's will make different numbers.  I don't want to say that you will make "X" amount of power, because I honestly can't give you that figure, without testing on your exact setup.  However, I would venture to say that a bolted QR (intake, header and exhaust) will see a modest 10-15whp gain, and the ability to make power out to 7K or so without any headwork.  A ported head, bigger valves, springs, etc.. will all play a role in how much power that you can generate.

As far as the turbo/nitrous guys.. you will benefit the most.. At the 300-350whp level, I would expect a solid 20-30whp gain (again, depending on your exact setup and current power level).  The biggest advantage, is that you will be able to extend the rev limiter with a TS or JWT reflash, and make more power out to 7500rpm with the correct springs and bottom end.

Let's keep it going, guys.. I'll call the machine shop on Monday and get exact timeframe quotes.  Once I have that, I'll post up all of the details, and we'll start taking orders.

Re: FI-R QR Camshaft Group Buy?

I need turbo cams.

I suppose I should get the ones for higher RPMs. I would guess that means the profile of the lobe will be "twisted" or the backside (valve closing) would be longer relative to the peak so the valve can close without slapping? That almost sounds like I pulled it straight out my ass, cause I did.

Regardless. Get us a price and we could definately use these. I already have my head off and if the price is right AND turnaround won't be too long, I will delay reassembing the top end until you get the cams ready! smiley-smile

Thanks for doing this man! You should have known the demand you would have considering all the people that are waiting for cams until BC gets them ready.

Damn you, lol.  I bought my cams from that last JWT group buy, I JUST got around to installing them.  Well... I could always take em out huh?

Re: FI-R QR Camshaft Group Buy?

I think my logic on the cams was totally backwards. I guess to support the higher RPMs you need more duration at a higher lift to allow enough intake/exhaust to happen in the time allowed. 7500 rpms is 125 rotations per second, and the intake would only be open for a short time. Hence the much stronger valve springs so the valves can close quickly because of the big lobes.

Shit if I know.

Either way, I am going to pass. I would want the high rpm cams w/ springs, but I'm going to have to wait so I can be sure nothing comes up (like my head being fucked or something) while I'm building.

Why do I always miss stuff that you just can't miss out on? smiley-sad

Re: FI-R QR Camshaft Group Buy?

I just got this from B.C.+ what you already know of the company so Im interested.  I have springs and headwork, will be having some pistons.

Unfortunately we have experienced delays with cam core production. I will contact you as soon as we have some info.
Thank you,
Dustin

So Im looking for cams.  I will have a 7k redline (Im still wanna buy that ecm off of you)  Maybe similar profile as the BC cams coming out maybe a little more aggressive not sure yet

Re: FI-R QR Camshaft Group Buy?

Unlike BC.. I don't copy other people's profiles.. smiley-wink  I'll list the lift/duration.. but, honestly, it has more to do with the ramp angles, in terms of how the car will perform.

Id definately be interested in some turbo cams to rev to 7k. I actually just bought springs today. Just give me a date and a price so I have plenty of time to whore myself out.

I could have cams cut for the 07+ engine as well.. I just need a stock set of cams to have billets made.

i suggest u buying some from courtesy parts or ur local dealer.  See the cheaper it is on my pocket, teh better it is for both of us.  Plus u can include em with ur TURBO KIT when u make it.  see research + development = $$$

I haven't looked at his QR stuff.. but, I will say that I have seen the VQ stuff, and the set that I looked at/measured was almost identical to the HKS 264's.  The lift was slightly higher.. but, that's about it.

HQR is the act of installing the 07 crank.  Therefore, it is built.  But for some reason people think it has to include internals and big turbos and nothing to do with the act of installing an 07 crank.  These cams will just merely make it better, not complete.
