Once again someone has stepped up to the plate and shown what a QR25DE is capable of...
This past weekend serspecv13 dynoed his 2003 Spec V, and got 385whp and 350 wtq... all on stock rods and pistons. His modifications were a 57 trim turbo on 14.5psi of boost, blockguard, head studs, and alcohol injection, along with the standards like 3" exhaust and Nismo cams.
serspecv13's showoff thread can be found here: http://www.myspecv.com/f/t3528-serspecv … -pics.html On top of the awesome engine modifications, Tom has managed to strip down his car to a lean 2300 pounds at last count.
Tom would like to give props to Alex Pagan at Humble performance for making this all happen!

UPDATE 06/18/08: He pulled off 400whp on stock internals!!!
Same mods as the 385 whp dyno, same boost level.

Wouldn't nismo cams actually hurt his power on a turbo?

it still opens the valves higher, it would hurt the power as in he's venting boost out of the exhaust during the overlap, but since the turbo is large enough, it's not going out of the efficiency range yet, so overlap isn't too horrible for this yet.

very very nice numbers,
how long do you est. it will hold together on that amount of boost? I'm excited to hear the great news

Online

Jon

^ no they shouldnt hurt power just run higher risk from what i was told due to a higher duration and lift they stay open longer but the Nismo cams aren't that aggressive. I honestly donno the true answer to this though if someone else wants to chime in.-Edit G chimed in before i could hit post...
As for 385whp on stock internals with only meth and blockguard Very Impressive! Hope she hold up man now get to the track and get some times! Thats definitely pretty damn sick!

great numbers, but seriously, lifespan?

Whats up all. thanks for the post and shit. my safc is still hooked up to my throttle signal but i plan to change it to the boost safc way. I was not especting these kind of #s at all we were all shocked. but the meth kit was shuting off at 5500 rpm so we quick tuning and tured it back to 12psi and made 360whp but now i have that fixed and going to change plugs and were going for 15psi next sat. we'll see if we can hit 400 or close. lets all prey.

It is a mess and i told david I wanted to wait to take piucs next weekend but we did it anyway.I plan to get it all cleaned up. I just got it up and running last weekend, so this has been a rush deal.

Thanks bro. I owe alot of this to my tuner I think. Im going to get him to email a sheet with the a/f ratios and all that junk but it looks like a flat line....... Hes really really good at tuning cars and some of you guys in TX/AR/KS you should really make the trip to see him. hes awsome!

I'm running coolingmist meth kit! What kit did u install? Is those numbers on pump gas? And one last question... What front mount is that?

Well the way I look at it is. someone needs to see what this motor can do so theres no I wonder bullshit anymore but I think Ive about pushed my luck? Look I dont plan to run 14-15 psi 385hp all day everyday we just wanted to see what it was capable of and show people this motor can handle more than what you think and I think i did just that. And the turbo kit is custom.

and we need more people like you
people wanna sit around, theorize, and talk BS... at least there's a brave few that have the balls to actually go and try stuff. there's people still saying you cannot run over 6psi in a QR without it blowing... haha. now we're finally seeing higher psi and people pushing, even if just for a few dyno runs or whatever, to see what is capable.
and that's why gurov and i wanted this on the front page as news, because this needs to be known! haha.

I have have the snowperformance stage2 maf kit and I was on 91 pump gas and can hardly afford that haha! and on the intercooler you would have to as kurt its his old one.

the only problem with your testing is that you are really what 1 of 2 that has done. for this to be held as the stock motor is good for X power potential we need more than a handful of people to push the limits. you never know, the next run could be the last.

so what? it doesn't count if it blows on the next run? haha... guess all times for dragsters don't count if they gotta rebuild at the end of the run.
gurov would've dynoed years ago if he gave a shit about numbers, but he doesn't so it's hard to convince him to do pulls. he's been at 14psi for about a year now.
maybe your numbers don't count either charles, since you're the only one?

it's not a junker
just clean up the wiring, ugh! haha. i don't think the car looks bad, but i am use to seeing a stripped out spec and what not.
but, i will have to hate you now because you beat me to high dyno numbers

no, no, no. youre reading to much into this. if 2 people can get a stock qr to make 450whp id call that a fluke.... now if 10-20 people do the same and the motor holds together for more than 1 pull id call that proof that a stock qr can make XXX power.
you guys know me, im all for pushing the limits, i hope to break 700whp at the meet in sept.

superspec.!! I have mad props for you bro you have a badass spec but when I go to the track I plan to run 14-15psi all night and Ill let ya all know how long it last.. I bet I drive it home!

well the problem is, you'll never find 10 people because
1: a lot still believe shit blows after 8psi
2: they don't have the balls
3: they care too much about costs, but yet still turbo a sentra which is like ??? wtf are you doing with a turbo then
4: they don't have the balls
5: they don't have the balls
