Water/Meth Injection System

Since the accident, I have been searching for a solution on the high compression piston setup, and I think I may have fonud it.

Snow Performance offers a Water/Meth kit that is driven by Pulse Wave Modulation to the pump with a progressive controller based on maf voltage. This sort of setup makes me feel much more comfortable running this solution with the factory engine management system. It puts the pistons, rings, and kit for less then $1100 which is what I was aiming for. A kit can be had for less then $500 and the 7 gallon resivoir is only another 129.99 -

I know G, you don't think it's as safe as MAP sensor, but in doing some homework, I'm liking it more and more. Not to mention, the pump will be running 99% of the time other then idle.

I think the nice thing here is this kit will allow me to transition from out of boost into boost without any problems since it's all MAF Voltage based. Plus one of the things about this, is that the pump and all the parts are lifetime guaranteed. Something I need with my hard abuse on the things I use.

http://www.snowperformance.net/product_images/product-large_image-9.jpg

I am going to order the kit and place it on the new B15 I'm picking up this week! I will keep you guys posted, but for now - I do believe this can be done, and all with windshield wiper fluid!!!

Re: Water/Meth Injection System

meth injection isnt that commonly used and only boosted ppl are interested in it and those guys are running low CR not higher.... its still a nice looking kit and Snow Performance does make nice parts.  What size tank is included if u dont opt for the 7gal tank?

not that makes it 50/50 on the meth to water correct? I was looking at that, but I wanted to try and avoid doing that with straight -20 degree windshield wiper fluid

Re: Water/Meth Injection System

well, I looked at this a little closer, and with the %30 meth in the -20 fluid, it will push the octane around 110 which is more then enough to get away with what I'm looking to do......

If it has time to evaporate before the valvetrain?

-JNY

The nozzle sprays in 80-120 Micron size droplets - right after the throttle body will be the best way to go since it will have more time to evap and be more concentrated

Re: Water/Meth Injection System

after the throttle body will most likely dump too much into the intake unless you are spraying the meth at a pretty high boost point/higher heat its probably best to put the nozzle 5 inches away from the throttle body

Nice choice Will. I was planning on picking up the Snow Performance meth injection kit with the MAF variant as well. Keep us updated because I am definitly interested to see how I could set mine up when I get it.

I am running a pretty interesting setup - a little different from whats needed, but this isn't the thread to talk about it with, I'm going to update another thread on the affects on this with the higher compression -

I am very happy with the kit to date and it's working very well with a pretty easy install to boot

Re: Water/Meth Injection System

so with your pistons did you only hone out the cylinder walls and drop the new pistons in and call it a day?  Also any dyno's yet?  And what kind of other cars are running the alky?  Interested in seeing some other high compression alky cars... I saw an AEM alky kit at the Philli auto show in a Subaru race car, pretty bad ass.

Cool beans.  Looking at Snow Performance's site, you're using the "Stage 2 MAF Boost Cooler?"  ~$1100 sounds like an acceptable price point for what's provided.

right - i'm still working on the kit setup and pricing, but yes this may be the viable option as i continue to run hard on the car as well
