I dont think remapping our ecu will do shit... just my uneducated opinion.

Well i dont understand then i dont reckon......So this is just a splice? if this product would be a good start for someone to design a handheld tuner for our cars it would def be a good thing

Justin,
I apologize, at this time we do not have any plans to develop any
performance options for that platform.

lets email them as much as possible in order for them to have plans to build on our platform. i am willing to donate my car to them because i am an hour away and i work ten minutes from their shop.

same as a reflash but you can reflash it to what YOU want your car to do with your mods.

i would literally KILL for cobb access port... using stock ecu with added performance goodies and not having to use the piggyback would be a lifesaver. def a +

Those access ports are pretty sweet. My buddy had one for his STI and he had 3 maps set up on it - pump gas/ pump & meth/ and race gas. it take him like a min, to switch maps and would go from 370 WHP on pump to 500+ WHP on race gas...

YES it's awesome. My buddy has it on his Forrester.

i'm telling you guys...you need to be harrassing tactrix for a reflash...not cobb....it's an $80 dollar option that lets you flash the ecu however you want

The AccessPORT by COBB Tuning, Inc. is a handheld programmer that allows you to unlock your vehicle's hidden potential by reprogramming the stock Engine Control Unit (ECU).
With a short and guided installation process you can upgrade the ECU in your car from stock to one of our performance oriented tuning maps. The unit uses the OBD-2 diagnostic port, and requires no cutting, wiring, or other such modifications, simply plug-and-play.
The crowning function of the AccessPORT is COBB's unique 'Real-Time' mapping, which allows you to change the tuning data within seconds, as opposed to minutes. Simply park, switch realtime, and resume driving, it's literally that easy.
Using our off-the-shelf staged maps, the AccessPORT can unlock the potential of your vehicle by as much as 50hp, and more based on further modifications. The possibilities are endless since the AccessPORT is a short ProTUNE away from giving your car even more potential from the staged maps.
The AccessPORT's features include:
» On-the-fly map switching
» Monitor vehicle sensor data and display in analog or digital format
» Vibrant color graphic display with First-Ever full 260,000 color OLED, high-resolution screen
» Read/Clear engine trouble codes
» Preloaded with performance, economy and convenience maps
» Update via the Internet
» Measure 0-60 and ¼ mile times
» Adjustable on-screen Shift Light functionality
» Estimates horsepower and torque
» Displays current and averaged fuel economy
» Drag race simulation with reaction time and “time slip” data
» Built in on-screen help mode function
» Multi-Language support
» RoHS compliant (Lead Free design)
» Custom performance tuning for your specific vehicle and modifications as provided by an
authorized AccessPORT ProTUNER™ center, or upgrade to the StreetTUNER™
software package for do-it-yourself tuning
Something like this would be great for the sentra........ EMAIL SENT!

awesome!! keep emailing these gusys. even if they tell you they are no plans for the b15 platform. keep emailing them until they have no other choice but to make us a product.
dont forget to mention how similiar our software is to the 350z/g35 which would also help with cost of r&d.

Just got this back!
Daniel,
At this time there are no immediate plans to develop an AccessPORT for
the Nissan Sentra Spec V platform, but that does not mean we will not
explore that option in the future. Please feel free to keep in touch!!

here is the latest and greatest e-mail i sent them:
know we have recently talked about the lack of intrest for cobb tunning to make products for the spec v. i am also aware of how mant e-mails that you have recieved from other spec v owners. this is due to the EXTREME lack of aftermarket products for our vehicles. is there any way to get cobb tunning to reconsider on the spec v project? i am willing to donate my car for r&d purposes.
thank you for your time and efforts.

latest and greates from justin at cobb:
Justin,
Unfortunately no, there really is no way for us at this point in time to
step away from all of our other projects (Subaru, Mitsubishi EVO,
MazdaSpeed 3 and Speed6, Nissan 350Z) to begin development on the Spec
V. You are more then welcome to come in and see what we are currently
working on. You will be given the opportunity to ask our software
engineers about any future development during our Annual Open House this
weekend. Come in and hang out with us Saturday the 11th.

ok, friday i went down to the shop to talk to justin. he was at miller motorsports park aka mmp for a track day. talked to what seemed to be the receptionist (a dude). the reason they have not started and projects on the spec v is because they are a small shop with their hands full right now with their current projects i.e. subabru, evo, mazda and 350z. he also said it was a toss up for them on which platform to start tunning next. the 350z or spec v. obviously the went with the 350z. they are also finishing up the accesport for the 350 within the next month or so.
talking to him about the similarities in the 04-06 spec v and 350'z software and connecter which they are aware of and want to build on.
i recomend continuing to email them about the spec v platform. they want to do something for it and for us but are super busy.
Offline

I've talked to them in the past.. Not sure if it was the specific guy, or just the company itself.. but they really had no interest in developing anything of the sort.
Along the lines.. I believe I said:
"Wait a second.. I'm typically giving YOU money in YOUR hand from a whole community of car enthusiasts.. and you're turning that down? Isn't that quite the opposite of what your business is supposed to be doing?"
After that.. I guess I struck a nerve.. He really didn't have any intention to start working on an '04 platform. Numerous conversations led to nowhere.. and what i'd explain, he'd change the subject by offering another means of tuning / programming. I just eventually said fck it.

I'd point him here then all the "other" Spec V boards. The more the better.
Someone will realize eventually theres a pretty good size group of owners left with their sausage in one hand and nothing to stick it in. Bad analogy, maybe?
We need performance part manufacturers to see there is a market for them and we just have to pimp ourselves out to them until they slowly get going. I'm sure they didn't produce parts overnight for honda's. I'm just curious, but is the nissan software that much of a PITA that no one can decode and manipulate the existing code? Seems like Nissan screwed us by making it a bitch for aftermarket ecu control. I don't see Honda making it more difficult and I don't see any big manufacturers having problems getting it done for the other popular cars. Just my .02:wacko:

tell them to come here. I have a dyno and a specV which can be used as a beta tester. I would be more than happy to help them out with testing.

it is an obd2 plug in handheld that has preset maps from cobb. or if you get the protune software, you can tune the handheld on the comp and load it into the car.

Guess I should've read the info above. Sounds like a great tool. . . hope they can hook us up.

Well I was just browsing this site because I'm helping a friend with a Spec-V with his Audio. (I build fiberglass sub boxes and I'm going to be wiring his car up as well) And I was looking for a firewall pass through.
Anyways this thread caught my attention, I own a 2002 Subaru WRX and have the Cobb Stage II map on my ECU. So I figured I could offer you all a little insight for the AP
My car is practicaly stock except for Turbo XS Turbo Back Exhaust (4 inch downpipe, 3 inch exhaust 2.5 inch tip) prior to having the AP I was throwing a CEL (Check engine light) And I assume many of you all are doing that or did something to your o2 senso to make it stop doing that haha, my friend's Spec-v has had the CEL on since he got his new exhaust and I'd assume he's throwing the o2 code now.
Basically the AP will, like many of you have said, re-map your ECU. It won't be an exact tune, but it would be a general tune that is as close as it can get without a pro-tune. For my particualr "tune" I have the Stage II tune which is for a WRX with Turbo Back Exhaust (TBE) and Cobb obviously can't make a map for every different type of exhaust so they make a "general" map setting. The joy of the AP is t hat I can go to a Cobb Pro-tuner and have them tune to my EXACT options and load the new map onto my AP and I have it forever. I can put my car on vallet mode (if the rpm's go over 1500 (I think) rpm's the car will kill itself) and loads of other safety maps, and quickly change it to my desired tuned map practically in an instant. The new AP v2 is amazing because it has on the fly tuning, the AP v1 you had to wait about 15 minutes with just the battery on sitting there...
The on the fly settings allow you to conserve fuel while interstate driving as well.
Basically it's an amazing tuner, you pay the money in the beginning but the potential and the benefits are definitely worth it!
-Christian
hope that was good enough for my first post on here

COBB ports are sssooo sick... My buddies STI was putting 228WHP stock on a dyno. with a cobb stage 2 tune and a clutch and a 3 inch exhaust he put down 334WHP..... over 100WHP gain.
I would pay 1,000$ for a cobb access for my spec V.

I just emailed them
Hello my name is Aaron Castro. I drive a 2005 nissan spec V with over 350WHP at 11psi on a treadstone turbo kit. I hate tuning a an apex AFC, and have recently heard that you guys might be developing a acces port for the spec V. Is this true and if so can I please have any information available?
