So I've been asked many times about the vent delete panel I made, and recently may have come across a good source for carbon fiber sheets. So I am going to start making these in about a week, when the carbon comes in.
They will cost $60 shipped. They will be pre cut for 2 1/16" guages, but let me know what kind of guage you are running to be sure. I am willing to do custom stuff for those who desire, such as toggle switches installed, or anything else you can think of. Just keep in mind more time = more $$, but I'm mostly doing this for fun.
The method of attachment would differ from the one I made myself, and each one would be test fitted before being sent. Nice spot for a wideband . . .
Anyways here is what mine looks like:
Mine houses a temp guage and a fan override toggle (chk the how too's)
I will be using 3mm carbon, so it will be stiff. I also could do aluminum, or silver carbon, but silver carbon is $$
So here's how I'm gonna do this, I will give priority to those who showed interest first, however if they don't pay by the time their piece is done it will go to the next in line. Seems fair to me, if you think otherwise let me know.
I will keep the status of everything updated in this first post. PM me at any time with any ?'s, I will respond asap.
My paypal: adambiker25@yahoo.com
STATUS: Pieces under construction! Watch for PMs
Should have pieces ready to ship end of the week, roughly 4/11
THE LIST: (To those who showed interest, just PM to be removed)
1. Bcamos (?)
2. SE-R Racer
3. Ibreakayouface (w/guage and toggle I think, I will PM you)
4. JCProV (?)
5. Rival (?)
6. JaymeSPEC-V (one toggle)

what do you use that gauge for? temp? i noticed that the switch is for fans which i am VERY interested in. I'd really like a digital temp gauge right next to a fan switch like that. please give me full info on what i'm looking at in the photo.

The guage is a Cyberdyne temp guage hooked up to a Nissport adapter in the upper radiator hose (which I'll prob move to the block soon). I will happily make one just like mine and could make yours with the toggle installed, but getting the guage would be up to you. Unless you wanted to pay me to get it then i could install it in the panel. I don't have any hookups on guages, toggles are cheap. Figure like $5 per toggle installed . . .?
Dues - I would f'n love to do a B13, but I would need to have your top bin (does the dash come apart like that?)to do research/fitting. So the answer is absolutely but you might have to send me some stuff. Or come to MD lol.
EDIT just come to MD I wanna see yer B13
And you don't miss a whole lot of A/C, I covered the opening behind the guage and it kinda forces the air thru the other vents. The pass side vent is always aimed at me unless my gf is in the car, and it's rare anyone else is ever in my car, so screw em.

No prob, let me figure out $$ and get pics, prob get em up Mon (my home internet is down, gotta do it at work). I'll send you the link for the adapter. Wanna move it to the drain plug on the back of the block, ultimately i want to have both, head and block temp. Don't really need it, just for fun.

Thats pretty sweet! Does it come as a flat piece and we cut a hole in it if we want? I want one, just the left vent. Im going to block it off or reroute it to the right vent.

hmm...I wouldn't have a use for One but would be Nice addition
But do you think you can do one on the passanger side Vent with a bit of a tilt facing the driver instand of the Driver side
My Fiancee(My Main Passanger) Always shut/points her away, so its kinda a dead vent to start with
and I'm sure many people who would find real Race use for this have already gutted there AC anyways
so having two VentDelete Panels would be awesome (I think)
Count me in on a huge question Mark, I can give you an asnwer when my turn comes up

RedDragon - The pieces are totally flat, you really could mount anything in there, you are just slightly limited in terms of depth of available space behind the panel. Carbon is a pain to cut through, it is strong enough to catch drill bits, so I was going to ship them with the guage holes cut already. If you want a blank that could be done. And just blocking off the air passage behind the panel will naturally force the air thru the other vents. (Actually I have a bigger plan to relocate my vents entirely and make a monster panel lol).
Rival - I could do a left side, but a left side with a tilt would be difficult. The hard part would just be making it pretty, so the pass isn't looking right into the gap. I suppose the gap could be filled with abs or more carbon for that matter, but would take a lot more fab time. But maybe I'll try to mock somethin up for ya. Or maybe put the tilt in the guage itself . . . that could work. (sorry thinking while typing)

I never think before I type, this is why my Grammer apparently sucks
Its just that I'd like to Keep my A/C Vent, Central Texas gets pretty harsh weather, Summer and Winter
But this is a totally bitching Idea, but I kinda looked at my Vents the otherday and a tilt may not be really nessasary
but if you can get it to work, more power to ya
But yea, I figured tilting the Guage it self would be easier
still wondering what you would use the toggle switch for, but it would be good to have one

Here's an easy fun use for a toggle: http://myspecv.com/f/t153314-how-to-coo … witch.html
I have another one that is sort of an ign on/off (it's just the pole switch from the clutch rewired to a toggle, i got bored one day)
Even if you aren't sure what to use it for it's nice to have, if you don't think you'll ever use it I'd just keep it clean and skip it.

I wanted a blank just to put in there so if I wanted to put something in there later, I could. I was wondering what you use to cut and drill with so I could do my own cutting.

Bi metal hack saw blades, hand files, ti drill bits etc. If you haven't gathered yet this first run will be made by hand, and very time consuming (we'll see where this goes from there). I'll make you a blank no prob tho is you want one. I'll do it a little cheaper cuz there is no risk of ruining the piece making a big hole (I am accounting for some loss of material here) that can be up to you!

Hey guys sorry this has been so slow, not that you care but life has been kicking my ass the past couple weeks. Here's where I am at:
Tried a redesign, something that doesn't require dash modifications, like the one I made myself does. I am pretty happy with what I came up with, but you guys will ultimately be the judges.
The first three are done, should have three more by the end of the week. These will be test fit tomorrow or Wed and those who asked will be PM'd in order.
Giddyup.

would the gauge and wires get to hot if you run the heat? I'm sure they wont catch fire but I dont what to melt anything. just curious

Holy thread revival . . . nah, i sealed off the vent w/ some abs plastic and some duct tape, so air is forced thru other vents and there's no way the guage would get damaged. Let me know if you want one, I can still make these
