Another oil consumption TSB?

I got a call from the dealer that they wanted me to bring my car in for an oil consumption test and to reprogram my computer. I told them that it's already been in for that months ago, but they said this is a new one.... They also said I get a free oil change with it. Well no shit I get a free oil change. You guys are gonna drain it out. Oh, and when I mentioned that I used Amsoil and it isn't time for an oil change. They said that all oil is the same and you should change it every 3,000 miles no matter what kind of oil it is.

Re: Another oil consumption TSB?

And thats why I don't take my Spec to the dealer anymore... they have no clue what they're talking about or what they're doing.
(FYI Nissan sucks as changing oil, filter had to come off with some, persuasion...)

Re: Another oil consumption TSB?

Hey man if there is something I can't stand is someone who thinks they can go 6,7,10 etc. miles on Amsoil. Change your oil at 3-at the most 5 thousands miles please. Your engine will thank you. Just bring it and let them do it. If your concearned about the oil just change it when you get home. Please be nice to your car and change your oil. I'm not trying to bash you i just have a thing abiout people and amsoil. Bad history with people that use it. It has led to many arguments. My .02

Re: Another oil consumption TSB?

agreed oil should be changed regularly on a sooner baises then what the oil manufacture says.  fresh oil keeps a car running smooth and producing more power.  as for dealership oil changes...my dealership (which i did not buy my car from) are great for oil changes...never had a problem and i always take it to them in the winter cuz in -30 degree celcious weather (bout -20F) oil is hard to change smiley-tongue....they are great though they let my car sit for about half an hour with the plug out to get as much of the old oil out....use half a jug to flush the rest out...the new crush plug...new filter and fresh mobil 1 synthetic 5w30 oil...cost me 60 bucks cdn with tax

Re: Another oil consumption TSB?

I just changed my oil in mine for like $30 (then again I get royal purple and my filters for cost smiley-biggrin  The longest part of the oil change is the oil filter, I highly suggest getting a small filter pliers, looks like this:

Re: Another oil consumption TSB?

I use Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5w30. I'm planning on changing my oil tomorrow. Someone told me to add hyper lube because it helps lubricate the engine. I'm going to try that tomorrow. As for filter, I use K&N. The K&N oil filter comes with a nut on the end for tightening. Just don't overtighten.

Re: Another oil consumption TSB?

I use mobile one 5W-30 Fully Synthetic. Never had a problem yet, and it only costs me $23, for 5 quarts with a new filter. Change it every 3000-3500 Miles

Well I was letting the dealer do my oil changes for like the last 2, I found out they were using Quaker State 5-30 (not synthetic) and I was like, ugh, Ill do it myself. I then proceeded to seafoam the crap out of my engine. Damn thing runs tops now, runs as quiet as my friends 02 (which has a new engine in it). I heard a lot of good about royal purple from people at my work and customers that use it. So far its been treating me just fine.

Oh, and yes, 4 1/2 quarts on the dot.

Re: Another oil consumption TSB?

4 1/2 with the Balance Chaft still in, more like 5 1/2 with it removed... Im a little unsure about the without part, but someone on here I belive once said 5 1/2... just don't quote me to it.
