This is a must read for all nitrous newbs and to some of those that may want to know more. Thanks for actually taking your time to read these, you might actually learn something.

Q: Why nitrous over turbo/supercharger?
A:
Nitrous is way easier to hide and its cheaper, unless your one of those people that fills his bottle every week, lol. It doesnt make as much power but its still fun.
Q: Isnt nitrous cheating?
A: HAHAHA NO! Of course some people may think so it really isnt, its another performance modification like any other.
Q: I heard nitrous will blow my motor up, is it true?
A: Whoever told you that has probably never used it before and they are going strictly off of what they hear or have seen on tv. There are some precautions that you should take though so that you dont.
Q: Will nitrous void my warranty?
A: I hope you arent serious, YES!
Q: Well, what can i do to make nitrous safer?
A: There are many things you can do. Getting an rpm window switch allows you to control when your nitrous turns on/off, for instance if it was set at 3000-6000rpms the nitrous would only turn on during that period. A WOT (wide open throttle) switch will allow your nitrous to turn on only while having your accelerator pedal to the floor, they make electronic ones you tap into your wiring harness and mechanical ones you put on the bottom of the pedal. Fuel pressure safety switchs will shut down your nitrous kit if for some reason fuel pressure drops off, then you have some other serious problems you need to look at. Blow down tubes are used to direct teh nitrous outside of the car in case the bottle overpressurizes.
Q: What kind of nitrous kit should i get, wet or dry?
A: For our car you should definitely use a wet kit to play it safe, if you want you could do a direct port too!
Q: Do i have to use special gas?
A: You can run 93 octane i wouldnt go below 91 though.
Q: When should i start spraying nitrous?
A: Well first gear is worthless unless you have radials or slicks. You should also not use it below 3000 rpms.
Q: What spark plugs should i use?
A: i use these, ngk Lfr6a-11 for copper or lfr6aix for iridiums either one will work.
Q: What size shot can my car handle?
A: Most people use a 75-80 shot, some crazies run progressively controlled 100 shots. I was personally not satisfied when i used a 55 shot for the first time, needless to say i bumped it up to a 75, and now a 100 shot.
Q: Do i have to retard/advance timing?
A: You dont have to, but it is a wise decision to retard timing 2 degrees for a 75+ shot.
Q: Where should i mount the bottle?
A: Put it in the trunk, its the safest place for it and itll be out of the way. If you must put it in the passenger compartment you need to get a blow down tube.
Q: Does it matter where i put the nozzle?
A: The nozzle should be about 6" from the throttle body and NOT before the maf.
Q: How do i know how much i have left in my bottle?
A: When you are running low you will feel less of a pull, you can also get a pressure guage to see bottle pressure or even take the bottle out of your car and put it on a scale.
Q: What is optimal bottle pressure?
A: Depending on manufacturers it should be around 950-1100psi.
Q: What is stock fuel pressure?
A: The FSM says 51psi at idle. Others that know the spec well say its around 51-53.
Q: How do i tune my car for nitrous?
A: You dont, all you need to do is get the recommended size jets for whatever size shot you need, most manufacturers have a nitrous jet calculator or table on their website. Make sure to take bottle and fuel pressure into consideration.
Q: Should i take out the butterflies like the turbo guys do?
A: Its not entirely necessary, you might want to zip tie them open when your running nitrous or take em out completely. I dont know if anyone has had a problem but i would assume that n20 and fuel puddle on top of the butterflies and then when they open up it all goes into the motor. Then again the valves are closed for only a short period of time so who knows if its necessary. Once again, most people leave em.
Q: What are some other things i can buy for the nitrous kit?
A: There are many nitrous accessories, purge kit, blow down tubes, bottle heater, pressure guage, traction control switch, rpm window switch, custom mounting brackets, remote openers and of course there are some others.
Q: Whats a purge kit for, do i really need it?
A: A purge kit lets the excess air out of your line that goes from the bottle to the solenoid, you dont need it but your car may feel like it falls on its face when you first use it and all its injecting is nitrous.
Q: What do i have to do to run a 100 shot?
A: Research and learn as much as you can until you are going nuts. Buy every safety precaution and dont go cheap on parts. Play it safe cause thats a BIG shot of nitrous.
